Una classica teoria

Una classica teoria

The DAV - Department of Visual Arts of Soresina reopens on Saturday 14 May 2022 with a new, intriguing project: A CLASSIC THEORY curated by Chiara Bolzoni and Francesco Mutti.

It arises from the broader idea of beauty in a general sense, on what its presuppositions are and what its effects on the kaleidoscopic universe of contemporary art. Everything revolves around the fundamental question of a distant user of the art that represents him, while more and more often the attention shifts to the development of a work of art that presents within it pieces of classical art or referring to a past that he is considered noble.

The reasons are clarified by the seven artists called to tell the phenomenon of the use of classicism as a narrative tool: Concetta Capotorti (Rome, 1950), Giada Fedeli (Volterra - PI, 1984), Margherita Lipinska (Gdynia - Poland, 1964), Federico Benedetti (Pietrasanta - LU, 1972), Easypop (Roman project born in 2014 under the driving force of Roberto Mazzeo from Taranto), Paolo Nicolai (Carrara, 1971) and Zino (Teramo, 1973). Therefore, seven contemporary artists who use, occasionally or continuously, the theme coming from a historical moment different from ours (Greek and Roman antiquity; but also humanist and Renaissance; and even neo-classical) to tell more of our contemporary through a aesthetic ideal that has been "chosen" as a vehicle of objective beauty regardless of taste. A beauty that is, in all respects, shared and impeccable, welcoming and reassuring, which has come down to us often mutilated by the action of time and which our society - as well as those of the past - still considers instead as the highest and authoritative manifestation of man's thought.
